Lots of new stuff to talk about\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I picked up the\u00a0Opera web browser for the DS<\/a>\u00a0a couple of days ago. It\u2019s an odd mixture. I think they\u2019ve done an excellent job of tuning the experience for the DS\u2019s two small screens + pen. However, it can\u2019t handle a lot of content (Flash, PDF, etc.) so it\u2019s still closer to being a \u201cmobile\u201d browser than a real one. It\u2019s no fun entering data on the tap keyboard either; I haven\u2019t tried using the character recognition. Over all, it\u2019s an acceptable tool for light browsing in the bathtub \u2014 yes, I do this \u2014 but that\u2019s about all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Last night, while helping Heila — Randy’s character?<\/em> — grind some quests,\u00a0I ding\u2019ed 70. I\u2019d love to say it was at the end of some extremely heroic effort, but it happened while killing yet-another-Ogre. Heila didn\u2019t even notice until I pointed it out when we were logging off. \ud83d\ude41 Oh well, time to start saving for my flying mount.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I sprung for\u00a0Version 6 of Missing Sync for Palm OS\u00a0last night. It has a few nice tweaks that together added enough value to make it worth the upgrade for me. The highlights are mostly new features for Treos: video import and export, call logging and SMS message history. The biggest win for me is the new Notebook app, which finally gives us Note import\/export on the Mac.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I have been using Parallels at work for a while now, so that I can run Lotus Notes on Windows, but use the Mac for everything else. There\u2019s a new version out which again adds some nice tweaks, plus one\u00a0huge<\/em>\u00a0win: 3d acceleration. I haven\u2019t tried it myself yet, but my friend\u00a0Pookzilla<\/a>\u00a0has tried Half-Life 2 on it and claims very positive results.
