Just so it doesn&#8217;t get lost, here is the fix:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On the Mac go into Settings-&gt;Touch ID &amp; Password and <strong>turn off<\/strong> the setting that allows the watch to unlock the Mac.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Quit Settings, <\/strong>then put the Mac to sleep (close the lid, etc.). A shutdown or reboot should also work (though not tested).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Restart your Apple Watch and let it come up and connect to the net. You should be able to check the weather, for example. You&#8217;ll need the full network stack up and running on the watch.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Confirm that Bluetooth is turned on on your Apple Watch.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Login to your Mac, go to Settings-&gt;Touch ID &amp; Password and <strong>turn on<\/strong> the setting that allows the watch to unlock the Mac (i.e. reverse what you did in step 1).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At this point you should be prompted for a password, then it will say, &#8220;syncing&#8230;&#8221; and will end with the slider showing that the setting is enabled.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Test to see if it&#8217;s fixed<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks @pars33ker.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Using my Apple Watch to unlock my Macs has worked well for me in the past, but it started failing consistently after a recent OS update.
