[HBDI]:two

Well, it had to happen eventually. 🙂 I finally got around to collating enough of my musical experiments to get another album’s worth of music together. Some of it is pretty random, but there are a few good bits. Take a listen and let me know what you think.

(hint: Clicking on the album title, on the page this links to, will get you a zip of all the songs.)

Ken Walker did an awesome remix by adding some real african percussion to the mix. Check it out on his blog.

I’ve had this playing on repeat for a good part of the day. What surprised me is how, after a while, it was just some nice music playing. What I mean is:

There is this terrible thing we do to music when we listen to it “judge it”. The process of making music is particularly bad, usually resulting for me anyway in a piece which seems “pretty good” but which I don’t really like anymore.

By letting the music just “happen” in the background, I came away very much enjoying it. Since I forgot along the way that it was someone I knew who made it, and forgot to actively listen to provide critical feedback, I gave it the most level playing field a piece of art can ask: quick, did something happen for you, or not?

Nice work. An excellent compilation, and knowing how hard it is to “finish” a piece, a great accomplishment.

With regards to Ken’s remix, its awesome! Much more energy and movement in the piece. Live instruments win!
